Did you know the Lorain County General Health District is running a great photo contest called Photovoice that highlights physical activity? I know most of my readers don’t live in Lorain County, Ohio, but I wanted to share this info with you. LCGHD started this contest last year and is continuing it for summer 2013. People are urged to snap pictures of what moves them, in other words, pictures of what they feel is physical activity in the county. It could be swimming, biking, running, walking, playing, anything that shows people being physically active. Residents are really able to show their creativity with this contest.
Photos can be entered July 1 through July 21, and voting is open through August 8. Each person is allowed one vote per day, and this will determine the finalists. The coolest part of this contest is the top 10 finalists will have their pictures displayed at the Lorain County Fair (August 19-25), and the final voting will take place at the fair and online. The winners have a shot at some great prizes that will help keep them moving (I am not sure what they are this year, but I know they were great last year). Daily prizes will also be given away during fair week for people who vote either online or in person at the fair, so you could win a prize just for casting a vote!
There is a catch to this; not just anyone can enter the contest because the photos must be taken in Lorain County, Ohio. If you’re a resident or a visitor who has a great pic to show off, go to http://photovoice.livehealthyloraincounty.com/ and enter it. If you don’t have any pics but would like to vote for your fave photo, that’s okay, too. You can view the gallery and vote by clicking that same link.
FYI: my girls are entered in the contest. If you think they’re cute, please vote for them. As an employee, I am not eligible for prizes, but if I get enough votes, Lex and Annie (complete with mermaid tale) will be on display at the fair. They would get such a kick out of that. Here’s the link to their picture: http://photovoice.livehealthyloraincounty.com/entries/227.
While you’re visiting the website, check out last year’s finalists. You may recognize two extremely cute children 😉 Thanks!
